Join Mount Paranormal in Penola at Petticoat lane. Petticoat lane is a hidden gem in Penola, it still houses some of the original cottages from the pioneer families that were there. We will be investigating all three cottages, Sharam Cottage, Gammon Cottage and Wilson Cottage get behind this very rare opportunity to have all 3 cottages available together.
Sharam cottage was owned by Christopher Sharam (bootmaker) and his family the original sharam cottage was two room and as the family grew they built the 2nd cottage, a member of the Sharam family Sarah know as Granny Davis, lived there up until the 1940s.
Built early in 1850 of blackwood slabs and a bark roof out of timber from the banks of a nearby swamp, this was the home of Christopher Sharam, boot maker and Ellen Patching. He built a second cottage of sawn slabs in the mid 1860s to accommodate his growing family.
Gammon Cottage. A four roomed stone cottage owned 1879 by William Gammon. The detached kitchen was
then a common feature due to possible problems with open fires. The pressed metal roof tiles were used briefly prior to the introduction of
corrugated iron.
Wilsons Cottage, an 1860s stone cottage built by William Wilson built with Mount Gambier stone and local clay.
Lets see if we can have a conversation with the Christopher Sharam, William Gammon or William Wilson and their families.

Seacombe House Port Fairy has a rich history, and many publicans over the years. It was originally the Stag Inn built in 1847 and since then it had many licensees some were mischievous which is where some of the rich history arises. In 1873 The Stag Inn became a school, and ultimately a guest house. It also housed the shire and the borough offices for a while.
One of the stories told is that the licensee Mr Payne had a sick wife, and it was believed that had an affair with one of the housemaid.
On the death of his wife, Mr Payne proposed to the housemaid. It was alleged that at the inquest into his wife's death, the coroner was informed that Mr Payne had put white powder into a glass of hot wine for his wife, and that some of the housekeepers arsenic powder was missing. Lets see if we can uncover the truth behind this story.
Join us on an investigation to see if we can uncover the true story of Mr Payne's wife, or any of the many stories that the Stag Inn has from its past.
